Salem Farmers’ Market
Salem Farmers’ Market has had over 10,000 visitors already and has had an extremely successful season so far. We have over 20 vendors including offering a wide range of fresh produce, fresh bread, cheeses, fresh seafood, art items and much more. We are still accepting applications for farmers and non-farm vendors for the Farmers’ Market and have just added two new vendors: Mostly Miniatures plants and Living With Pets organic dog treats.

Salem Main Streets and a dedicated group of Salem residents organized a Salem Farmers’ Market in Salem, MA to help promote local farmers and to support the needs of the local community for fresh local produce and to create an even more vibrant atmosphere downtown Salem. The market runs from June 25 through October 29 Thursdays from 4 - 7 p.m. in Derby Square on Front Street, behind Old Town Hall and the Salem Marketplace.

We re-introduced a market at this location, since it is the location of the original Farmers’ Market of Essex County. Salem was authorized by the Massachusetts General Assembly in 1634 to hold a weekly market. That makes this the 375th year since Salem was first authorized to hold a weekly market. The large number of tourists that Salem attracts ensures high pedestrian traffic in the area where the market is located and has led to the market becoming a great success in addition to the large number of Salem residents within walking distance of the market. Farmers who wish to participate will need to submit a 2009 Farmers’ Market application and the weekly fee which is based on booth size.
