Mayor’s Night Out Restaurant Sampler
Join Mayor Kimberley Driscoll on a tour of three of Salem’s hot dining spots: Green Land Cafe, The Lyceum, and Vic’s Boathouse at Victoria Station. The event, a Mayor’s Night Out restaurant hors d’oeurves sampler, gives residents a unique opportunity to spend time with the mayor. The event is one of many great events put on by the city of Salem as part of Heritage Days.
The event takes place Monday, August 9; from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Cost to participate is $20 with proceeds to benefit Salem Main Streets. Pre-registration for the event is required. This is a unique opportunity for residents to spend time with Mayor Driscoll and sample appetizers at a few of the many outstanding restaurants in downtown Salem, while supporting the efforts of Salem Main Streets.
‘Mayor’s Night Out’ will start at Green Land Cafe on 87 Essex Street (5:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.); the hot new restaurant downtown Salem that everyone is talking about. The next stop on the sampler tour is The Lyceum, 43 Church Street (5:45 p.m. – 6:15 p.m.), a local favorite known for serving the finest food in a relaxed atmosphere. The final stop on Mayor’s Night out is Vic’s Boathouse at Victoria Station, 86 Wharf Street known for its beautiful view of Salem’s harbor (6:30 – 7:00 p.m.). Come to the opening of the second season of the Salem Farmers’ Market Thursday, June 17. The market will open an hour earlier this year at 3 p.m. and close at 7 p.m. It will feature more farms and more great produce including some new and less common vegetables sure to please the gourmet cooks in Salem. Don’t miss the opening bell of the market at 3 p.m. At 3:30 p.m. Chive, Sustainable Event Design & Catering will do a cooking demonstration and from 5 – 7 p.m. there will be live music by Qwill and The Further From Zen Orchestra. 
Tickets for the extremely popular Chocolate and Wine Tasting kick off event for the Salem’s So Sweet festival are on sale now at the Salem Chamber of Commerce at 265 Essex Street. The festival which runs from February 5 – 14, 2010 includes beautiful ice sculptures and great promotions throughout downtown Salem as well as the kick off event. The Wine and Chocolate event is Friday, February 5 from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Hamilton Hall. Tickets are $20 for the event which serves as a fundraiser for Salem Main Streets.
