We have an exciting Salem First Friday on tap this Friday night March 1st!  Over 30 stores are staying open later than usual just for you!  Do you believe in magic— well of course you do if you live in Salem— close your eyes, tap your heels and join us for a magical night!

Downtown and Pickering Wharf businesses host special events including cooking demonstrations, live music, art showings and all manner of creative events!  And (did you note our reference to tapping heels?) we have a special added attraction of an “Oz the Great and Powerful” scavenger hunt with prizes,  special extended movie preview at Cinema Salem, live Spanish Flamenco dance and guitar demonstration in Museum Place Mall, face painting at Cinema Salem as well as sales and promotions in many of the stores and restaurants.   Most events begin at 5pm.

Check into at least 8 of the 30-plus participating businesses on the Salem First Friday listing and bring your completed card (available online or in the stores) to Cinema Salem between 6:30-8:30pm that night to enter a special drawing for an “Oz in Salem” prize package. Additional prizes will be drawn including special 3D pre-screening tickets and swag!

Mark your calendar for a series of Welcome Back Salem Events Starting November 1…

Welcome Back Residents begins with the opening of the Salem Winter Farmers’ Market in Old Town Hall on November 1. The market will be open from 3 – 6 p.m. and offer over 20 vendors selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and specialty food items. For more information visit www.salemfarmersmarket.org.

Salem First Friday November 2 –  begins with glass blowing, book signings, music and much more. Salem First Friday is a year round program with businesses staying open until at least 8 p.m. in the downtown (including Pickering Wharf) and offer special events, discounts and promotions.   

On Friday, November 2 the Salem YMCA will be offering babysitting services for children 5 – 12 from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. Adults can enjoy First Friday events while their children will enjoy well supervised gym activities including gymnastics, sports, arts and crafts, swimming, and dancing!  Pizza and drinks are included.  Mention Salem First Friday and you save $5.00 off the $15.00 fee.  Space is limited so call ahead (978-740-9622) to save a spot.
