This week and for the rest of the market season Salem’s favorite bakery, A & J King will join the market to sell bread and pastries. They are replacing Armand the Swiss Baker and his truck which had to return to Florida due to storm damage. The Salem Farmers’ Market will continue in Derby Square on Front Street through October 29 on Thursdays from 4 – 7 p.m. Also, at the market this week, enjoy the music of Qwill and a cooking demonstration by Sixty2 on Wharf. The Salem Farmers’ Market will be holding a 375th Anniversary celebration at the market on Thursday, September 3 starting at 4:00 p.m. Speakers at the event include Representative John Keenan and local historian Jim McCallister. On September 3, 1634 the Massachusetts General Court first authorized Salem to hold a weekly farmers market. The event September 3rd will honor Salem’s long tradition as a market town and celebrate the successful return of a market to downtown Salem. The Salem Farmers’ Market, organized by Salem Main Streets, is held in Derby Square on Front St. every Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. For more information or updates visit www.salemfarmersmarket.org.

The Salem Farmers’ Market will add two new vendors to the successful Thursday afternoon market on Derby Square. The new vendors will be Living With Pets, a Salem pet boutique which makes organic homemade dog treats and Mostly Miniatures a grower based in Reading, MA. Mostly Miniatures grows miniature hostas, African violets, herbs and other indoor and outdoor plants.

The market will now offer an array of fruits, vegetables, cheese, bread baked on-site, art items, plants as well as treats for your favorite canine companion. Stop by the market from 4 – 7 p.m. on Front Street every Thursday through October 29. This week Finz restaurant will conduct a cooking demonstration at 4:15 and at 5:15 there will be acoustic music by Bob and Ren.
