The Halloween season in Salem has officially begun…the 16th Annual Haunted Happenings Grand Parade will make its way through the city on Thursday, October 6th. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. at Shetland Park on Congress Street and ends around 8:30 p.m. on Salem Common. The theme of this year’s parade will be Honoring Those Who Serve, so break out your red, white and blue! Celebrate the season with the sound of marching bands from the local high schools, colorful floats, the Lawn Chair Drill Team and much, much more.

Looking for a place to watch the parade? Stake your spot at the Salem Farmer’s Market in Derby Square. This week’s market features seasonal squash and a variety of fresh produce. Oh, and let’s not forget to mention the mouthwatering baked goods, perfect for keeping the whole family happy while waiting for the festivities to begin. The market is open from 3-7 p.m.
