The Salem Farmers’ Market has just been awarded a $2,500 grant by the MA Department of Agricultural Resources Farmers Market Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) program. This program provides funding to subsidize the purchase or rental of wireless equipment (Point of Sale or POS terminals) that allow farmers markets to accept federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly food stamp, benefits as payment for locally grown produce. This will make the market more accessible to a larger number of people.

Salem Main Streets would like to thank the many volunteers who made the Salem Farmers’ Market and the Visitor Information Booth successful.
The Salem Farmers’ Market had 20 vendors and ran for 19 weeks with attendance figures over 35,000. This exceeded all expectations for a first market and would not have been possible without their incredible efforts. The Visitor Information Booth served over 14,000 people on weekends in October and was a great resource for many visitors.
Don’t miss the last Salem Farmers’ Market of the season! The market still has lots of great fresh fruits and vegetables, monkey bread, seafood, live lobsters, bread and pastries. For the last market of the season we are encouraging vendors, volunteers and patrons to come in costume or in their official Farmers’ Market T-shirt which is a fundraiser for the market and available for only $15. Enjoy live music, a cooking demonstration and a fun atmosphere at the last market October 29.
