Salem hosts two book events Saturday, September 15.
First, Salem Recycles is sponsoring the 7th Free Book Swap at the Senior Center at 5 Broad Street from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Bring unwanted books, unused greeting cards, CDs, DVDs and videos and peruse for items you wish to take home. There is no cost and really no donation of any kind required. Just show up and bring home items new to you!
The Salem Athenaeum just a few blocks away is also hosting their Annual Book Sale on Saturday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and on Sunday, September 16 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Also, at the Salem Athenaeum starting at 10 a.m. is a discussion about how Dickens inspired Louisa May Alcott. Registration is required for this event by contacting dickensnorthofboston.com.
Later that night Pamplemousse and Cafe Polonia are hosting a Salem Oktoberfest fundraiser for the Salem YMCA. This will be held in Old Town Hall from 5 – 9 p.m. Tickets are $20.
