Salem is decorated beautifully for the holiday season, from a downtown holiday tree in Lappin Park to evergreen wreaths with candy cane lamp posts, Salem is dressed for the season. To top it all off almost 40 downtown businesses have decorated their windows especially for the holidays. People are encouraged to come downtown, take a look at the windows and vote at any participating business for their favorite window. All ballots will be entered into a holiday stocking contest. The winner of the ballot contest will receive a holiday stocking filled with gifts and gift certificates. Come downtown and vote!

Winners will be announced by December 17. The last day to vote in the contest is December 10.

It’s almost time for Salem Main Streets’ annual Holiday Window Contest. Every year, businesses throughout the downtown get in the spirit by creating bright, festive displays of their products and services. Holiday window displays start appearing by Thanksgiving, and the winners are announced by December 17.

The categories are Most Original, Most Whimsical, and Viewer’s Choice. Salem invites all to walk through the streets starting Thanksgiving weekend, casting votes at any participating businesses for the Viewer’s Choice window. All voters will be entered in a raffle to win a holiday stocking of gift certificates and goodies!

Use it at any participating restaurant during Restaurant Week! (See their site for specific details.) Even if you aren’t selected, don’t miss the fantastic deal of two course meals for $15 offered at The Lobster Shanty, Howling Wolf Taqueria, Salem Beer Works, Seaport Café, and Thai Place and $25 promotions at many other restaurants during Salem’s Restaurant Week Nov. 7 – 11. Also, Rockafellas will be donating 30 percent of their food sales during Restaurant Week to Salem Education Foundation. Services range from Complimentary Skin Care consultations and samples at Laura Lanes Skin Care to a total body fitness assessment, three training sessions, and nutrition coaching at Get in Shape for Women.
