The Salem Farmers’ Market is opening a winter market for 7 weeks in November and December due to popular demand. Many loyal customers told us they were sorry to see an end to the delicious produce and local food items that the market offers. In order to meet the demand and interest in a holiday market the Salem Farmers’ Market is bringing a “winter” market downtown Salem. The market will be held in Artists’ Row starting November 10. The current summer market ends October 20 so there will be a lull of two weeks without a farmers’ market in Salem. The Winter Market will run Thursday, November 10, 17, (Tuesday, November 22), December 1, 8, 15 and 22.

We are currently looking for vendors for the Salem WINTER Farmers’ Market.  The market will be open from 2 – 6 p.m. each week. The market will have some of the summer market vendors and some new vendors.  Applications are available on-line at www.salemfarmersmarket.org or via email Jennifer@salemmainstreets.org or by calling (978)744-0004×15. The deadline to apply to the market for the 2011 season is September 15, 2011.

Jennifer Normant, chef at the Hawthorne Hotel, cooked up a Chicken and Clam stew at the Salem Farmers’ Market. This was a similar dish to the one she prepared on HELL’S KITCHEN but at the market she substituted wine for beer. Many people came out to show their support for Jennifer and to ask her questions about the show. The full recipe can be found on the Hawthornehotel.com blog. For more information on the market visit www.salemfarmersmarket.org.
