Follow Destination Salem on Facebook for a chance to win gift certificates to participating restaurants. http://destinationsalem.blogspot.com/2010/11/tag-dine-in-salem-north-shores-dining.html The first 50 people to tag a photo of one of the restaurants posted each day in November will be entered into a random drawing for a gift certificate to that restaurant. Use it at any participating restaurant during Restaurant Week! (See their site for specific details.) Even if you aren’t selected, don’t miss the fantastic deal of two course meals for $15 offered at The Lobster Shanty, Howling Wolf Taqueria, Salem Beer Works, Seaport Café, and Thai Place and $25 promotions at many other restaurants during Salem’s Restaurant Week Nov. 7 – 11. Also, Rockafellas will be donating 30 percent of their food sales during Restaurant Week to Salem Education Foundation. As a bonus, visit them on Salsa Night, November 10, and dance with the Mayor for a $20 donation. For more information, visit www.salem-chamber.org.

The Salem Farmers’ Market has just been awarded a $2,500 grant by the MA Department of Agricultural Resources Farmers Market Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) program. This program provides funding to subsidize the purchase or rental of wireless equipment (Point of Sale or POS terminals) that allow farmers markets to accept federal Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly food stamp, benefits as payment for locally grown produce. This will make the market more accessible to a larger number of people.
The Salem News has covered this exciting opportunity. Go to the Salem News for the full story. To learn more about the Salem Farmers’ Market go to our official market website.
