Fall is here as are delicious crisp apples at the Salem Farmers’ Market Thursdays from 3 – 7 p.m. in Derby Square on Front Street. Enjoy shopping for local fruits and vegetables and specialty items at the over 30 vendors. In celebration of opening its 200th store, Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt is encouraging customers to make monetary donations to Boston Children’s Hospital and offering a free 8 oz. cup of froyo to the first 200 customers at each of their Boston-area stores on Thursday, Sept. 27 including the Salem store at 76 Lafayette Street. The event kicks off four weeks of fundraising at all Boston-area Orange Leaf stores for Boston Children’s Hospital of which Orange Leaf will help contribute funds collected with a goal of raising $25,000. All donations collected will be directed toward the Children’s Fund, which supports the hospital’s areas of greatest need.

(978) 744-0004 This year we will be joined by City Council President Joan Lovely, who will accompany attendees to 43 Church, Rockafellas and 62 Restaurant & Wine Bar for great food and fun. The Evening starts at 5 p.m. and ends at 7 p.m. and the cost is $20. Proceeds benefit Salem Main Streets.

Mark you calendar for the annual Spring Salem Restaurant Weeks! It starts on Sunday, March 25 – Thursday, March 29 and continues on to Sunday, April 1 – Thursday, April 5. You have 10 days to check out the delicious cuisine at a wide range of restaurants in Salem. The restaurants will be offering either a two-course prix-fixe dinner menu for $15, or a three- course prix-fixe dinner menu for $25, or both (note that these prices do not include drinks, taxes or gratuities). Looking for something to do with your signifiant other to celebrate Valentine’s Day… Enjoy the Salem’s So Sweet Chocolate and Ice Sculpture Festival. It starts Friday night with a sold out Wine and Chocolate Event and continues on Saturday with 17 beautiful ice sculptures filling the downtown. There will be 17 beautiful ice sculptures gracing the downtown for the 10th Annual  Salem’s So Sweet festival February 10 – 14, 2012. The festival begins with a Wine and Chocolate Tasting in Hamilton Hall on Friday, February 10. Tickets are almost sold out for this decadent event and can be purchased by calling (978)744-0004. On Saturday, February 11 by noon 17 large ice sculptures will fill downtown Salem. Many shops will be offering free chocolate samples and fantastic shopping discounts. It’s a great opportunity to do your Valentine shopping and make dinner reservations at one of 60 eating establishments downtown Salem.
