An Egg Hunt for the whole family…Saturday, April 11 downtown Salem at participating stores.
Pick up your Golden Ticket as part of the Golden Egg Hunt and have it validated at 8 businesses and turn it in by the end of the day April 11, 2009. You will be entered in a contest to win $100 and a fantastic gift basket which includes items ranging from a leather wallet to chocolates.

While you are downtown you might see the Easter Bunny hopping about Saturday from 2 – 3. You can visit the Easter Bunny in the Museum Place Mall from 12 – 2.

Participating stores will be serving refreshments.

Looking to get out of the house and have some fun…join Salem Main Streets on April 11th for the first annual Salem Golden Egg Hunt & Open House for a chance to win a Gift basket and a $100 bill.

Participating merchants will hand out Golden(raffle) Tickets the week leading up to April 11th to the “egg hunters” who spot a golden egg in the store’s window. No purchase is necessary just have your ticket validated at 8 participating stores and turn in your ticket at a participating business or the Salem Chamber of Commerce by close of business April 11.

Many of these businesses will also have special on-going events to entertain, entice and thank customers for their patronage. For example, Pamplemousse will be holding a wine tasting, Penelope’s Pet Boutique is hosting the 3rd annual Easter Biscuit Hunt from 12 – 3, Rose Medallion Tea Room will have free brownies, Rita’s will have free samples, Signatures is offering 20% off all full priced clothing and delicious desserts, Goddess Treasure Chest will be offering $5 off readings, Rouge Cosmetics will be serving brownies, stop by Laura Lanes for an Easter goodie, Coons and Thai Place will have candy and sweets and Maria’s Sweet Somethings will have visits by the Easter Bunny, a jelly bean counting contest and much more.

You can visit the Easter Bunny from noon to 2 p.m. at the Museum Place Mall on April 11th. Afterward, from 2-3 p.m. the bunny can be spotted meeting and greeting people throughout downtown Salem. Vintage photography will be offering photos with the Easter Bunny for a fee.

Refreshments will also be available that day at these participating stores: Bewitched in Salem, Coons, Crunchy Granola Baby, Goddess’ Treasure Chest, Laura Lanes, Lotus Gifts, Marias Sweet Somethings, Pamplemousse, Penelope’s, Picklepot, Red Lion, Rita’s, Rose Medallion, Rouge Cosmetics, Samantha’s Costumes, Signatures, Thai Place, Treasures Over time, Trolley Depot, Turtle alley, Vintage Photography, Witch city Ink, Witch Tees, and Witch’s Hide.

April is Salem Farmers’ Market month at Front Street Coffeehouse. Front Street Coffeehouse is holding a fundraiser throughout the month of April to support the Salem Farmers’ Market which is being organized by Salem Main Streets. Visit Front Street Coffee House in April and purchase one of their lunch special sandwiches charmingly named: Farming, Plowing, Planting, Weeding or Harvesting. A Call for Proposals has been released. The Salem Arts Festival is looking for participation from artists and performers in a diverse range of media for this event June 5 – 7, 2009. The Festival will celebrate painting, photography, sculpture, dance, music, writing, film, new media, performance, theatre, poetry, culinary, etc. The event will support local artists by providing them a free venue to interact with the community. The festival will take place downtown Salem.

The deadline for all entries is April 15, 2009. Artists and performers – in all genres – and especially those from Salem, are encouraged to apply. The festival also wants to encourage applications from artists interested in guiding children’s activities. Acceptance of proposals will be dictated by time and space requirements, as well as appropriateness to the festival’s goals. Art will be juried by a representative of the Peabody Essex Museum.

The Salem Arts Festival is being organized by Salem Main Streets, the Salem Arts Association, Salem State College, Peabody Essex Museum, Salem Film Fest, American History and Music Festival™, Gordon College and Salem Sounds.

Friday, February 27
5:00-7:00 pm VIP Reception at the CinemaSalem Café, hosted by the Creative Economy Association of the North Shore and the Salem Chamber of Commerce. Invited guests include Mayor Kimberley Driscoll, State Representative John Keenan, and representatives from the Massachusetts Film Office.
