Mark you calendar for the annual Spring Salem Restaurant Weeks! It starts on Sunday, March 25 – Thursday, March 29 and continues on to Sunday, April 1 – Thursday, April 5. You have 10 days to check out the delicious cuisine at a wide range of restaurants in Salem. The restaurants will be offering either a two-course prix-fixe dinner menu for $15, or a three- course prix-fixe dinner menu for $25, or both (note that these prices do not include drinks, taxes or gratuities). Reservations are encouraged. Participating restaurants are:

43 Church, 62 Restaurant and Wine Bar, Adriatic Restaurant and Bar, Bella Verona, Black Lobster at Stromberg’s Cove, Cafe Polonia, Capt’s Waterfront Grill & Club, Cilantro, Finz Seafood Restaurant & Grill, Grapevine Restaurant, The Great Escape, Green Land Café, Nathaniel’s at the Hawthorne Hotel, Red Lulu Lulu Cocina & Tequila Bar, Regatta Pub at the Waterfront Hotel, Rockafellas , Salem Beers Works, Scratch Kitchen, Seaport Café, Tavern In The Square, Thai Place, and Victoria Station. Looking for a few fun things to do in the city this weekend? Salem has plenty of options.  Here are just a few…Stop by Victoria Station/ Vic’s Boathouse this Friday March 9th, for the “Old School 80’s” with DJ TONE spinning the hottest tunes. For art lovers, the “Transformations in Native American Art” that is being shown this weekend at the Peabody Essex Museum, where you’ll see rare historic pieces alongside of some of the finest contemporary work.  The exhibit is FREE with museum admission. Also, if you have time for a bit more fun, go check out “ A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, a YMCA production. Tickets can be purchased at the Salem YMCA.  Also opening this weekend is Adam Bock’s “Swimming in the Shallows” at Salem Theatre Company.

The Salem Film Festival runs through Thursday, March 8. There are five or more films to choose from each evening playing at Cinema Salem. For a full list visit www.salemfilmfest.com. Then join us as we wrap up the festival at 10:30 p.m. at the Cinema Salem Cafe. At this event the Jury and Audience Award Winners will be announced.

The Salem Film Festival is much more than great film. Although, there are 14 different Independant Documentary Films showing just on Saturday, March 3 at the Salem Film Festival.  For a full list visit www.salemfilmfest.com.

Friday, March 2 join the festival at Finz After-Party with film makers and music by Henley Douglas. The event starts at 9:30 p.m. at 76 Wharf St.

Saturday, March 3 enjoy a Filmmaker Forum at 10 a.m. at the NPS Visitor Center, 2 New Liberty St. about Documentary Filmmaking as an Activist Tool.

1:30 p.m. Join the Filmmaker’s Forum at Griffen Theatre (7 Lynde St.) sponsored by the Alliance of Women Film Journalists to discuss how media covers documentary film.

9:30 p.m. Another great opportunity to unwind with filmmakers at the After-Party at Victoria’s Station (82 Wharf St.) with music by Big Ol’ Dirty Bucket.

Sunday, March 4 join filmmakers for breakfast at Caffe Graziani (133 Washington St.)

Noon enjoy the Filmmakers Forum at the Peabody Essex Museum (166 Essex St.) discussing Reframing Reality.

3 p.m. Attend Funding, Broadcasting, and Distribution Tips for Filmmakers at the Peabody Essex Museum (166 Essex St.)

You are invited to attend the Salem Film Fest VIP Opening Reception at the National Park Service Visitor Center (2 New Liberty St.) from 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1. Enjoy light refreshments and the music of Clay Ventre and the Bond Girls. FREE
