Don’t miss the last two weeks of the Salem Farmers’ Market. This Thursday the market will start with a chef demonstration by Adriatic Restaurant & Bar featuring homemade pasta. From 5-7 p.m., listen to some live musical entertainment by Dale Reynolds. This week also try your luck in our raffle at the Farmers’ Market! Tickets are only $1 each and proceeds go to the final market October 21. Prizes include Laura Lanes Skincare, Salem Wine Imports, and J. Mode gift certificates. Richard Rowell from Rowell Fishing Co. a weekly vendor at the market is also donating two freshly caught lobsters as part of the raffle.
This past Saturday and Sunday, the crowded streets of downtown Salem were filled with families, groups of friends, tourists and people in wild Halloween costumes participating in the Salem Chamber of Commerce Biz Baz Street Fair. The streets were packed with people enjoying the beautiful weather and shopping for jewelry, paintings, stained-glass pieces, and unique homemade arts and crafts. Vendors on Essex Street included local shops as well as schools, charities and civic organizations. If you missed the street fair, don’t worry, Salem has many more interesting events this month! Haunted Happenings officially kicks off with the Salem Chamber of Commerce Grand Parade tonight – Thursday, October 7. The theme this year “Around the World” should lead to many interesting themes and costumes. The parade starts at Shetland Park on Congress Street at 6:30 p.m. and ends at the Salem Common. Come celebrate and dance in the streets at the Lower Lafayette Block Party on September 30, 2010 from 5 – 8 p.m. There will be salsa, shopping, food and culture.
