Salem Main Streets is pleased to announce that SMS has been awarded a $1,000 grant by the Salem Cultural Council for the 2011 Salem Arts Festival This will enable us to continue our goal of showcasing the talents of the arts community in a free festival downtown Salem. The Festival is June 3 – 5, 2011 downtown Salem. Applications for the 2011 festival will be available soon. The Salem’s So Sweet Festival Brochure is now available! This year’s festival is the most spectacular ever – with numerous events including a Polar Plunge, 21 Ice Sculptures (a new record), and the popular Chocolate and Wine Tasting Event in Hamilton Hall. We have had another fantastic year because of all the support we receive in the community. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a successful year. SMS goal is the revitalization of downtown Salem as a vibrant, year-round, retail, dining and cultural destination through business recruitment, retention and the promotion of downtown Salem. Recently, Salem has begung to establish itself as the Dining and Shopping Destination on the North Shore with over 60 eating establishments and 90 retail shops. In the year ahead, we are looking for more volunteers in many capacities: committee members, graphic designers, data entry helpers, and much more to continue and to expand the work we are doing. All windows including the winning windows are visible now through December 25. Thank you to all businesses who decorated their windows and to all members of the public who voted in the contest this year. This year’s holiday stocking includes gifts from Caffe Grazianni, Crunchy Granola Baby, Cafe Valverde, Glass & Etc., Bella Hair Studio, Witch City Thrift & Consignment Shp, Penelope’s Pet Boutique, Modern Millie Vintage, Treasures Over Time, Roost & Beehive, Rouge Cosmetics, Fool’s Mansion, Living With Pets, The Picklepot, and Quint Essentials.
The Salem Main Streets Design Committee picked the most whimsical and most original window, while the public chose the viewer’s choice.
