Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving from Salem Main Streets!

Salem Holiday Happenings 2011 kicks off Friday, November 25! On Friday, get the whole family into the holiday spirit and join us in Lappin Park (at Essex and Washington St.) at 6:00 pm for the Annual Holiday Tree Lighting, a much-anticipated Salem tradition! From 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., sing along to your favorite holiday music performed by members of the talented, Paul Madore Chorale. Free hot chocolate will be provided by Gulu-Gulu Café. Mayor Driscoll will light the city’s 25-foot Holiday Tree at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Interested in participating in Black Friday but don’t want the chaos that comes with shopping at the big chain stores? Come to downtown Salem! With a wide variety of shops and restaurants, you’ll be able to check off items on your gift list for everyone in the family without the hassle of driving around a parking lot 20 times to no avail, or battling long store lines.

On November 7th, from 5-8 p.m.,  join Salem Main Streets at local hotspot 62 Restaurant & Wine Bar, 62 Wharf Street in Salem. Renowned Chef Tony Bettencourt will be cooking up delectable hors d’oeuvres for the event using what he puts into all his dishes; fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Enjoy the food along with a cash bar and the restaurant’s contemporary and elegant ambience. Participate in raffles and be first to learn the winter market vendor lineup!

Tickets for the fundraiser are currently on sale for $20 at the Salem Chamber of Commerce office, located at 265 Essex Street.
