Thursday, October 20 is the last outdoor Farmers’ Market of the season. Fortunately the market will be moving indoors in the Artists’ Row buildings and returning November 10. Join us this Thursday to shop one last time at all your favorite vendors in Derby Square on Front Street from 3 – 7 p.m. Starting at 3:30 enjoy a cooking demonstration by 43 Church Restaurant. Salem 5 will be the weekly market sponsor. Don’t miss Dance Etc. performance of Thriller at 5:30 and 6:30.  This dance performance will be ending the market season for the third year has become a popular market tradition.  

Mark your calendars for the opening of the Winter Farmers’ Market Thursday, November 10 at 2 p.m. (an hour earlier than the summer market) and for the market fundraiser Monday, November 7 at 62 Restaurant and Winebar. There will be a two-week interval between the last day of the summer Market and the start of the new Winter Market on Thursday, November 10th. Make sure you stock up on all your farm fresh favorites as well as baked goods and other locally sourced foods for the weeks without a market!

Along with crisp produce, baked treats and other fresh and organic foods, the last market will feature an annual performance of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” by Dance, Etc., complete with zombies and all!  Don’t miss your chance at an encounter with the living dead-they will be invading the market twice, at 5:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.

There is only one week left for the outdoor Farmers’ Market, but don’t despair. Thanks to a successful summer and high demand, the new Salem Winter Farmers’ Market will begin on Thursday, November 10th!

Salem Main Streets will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit the winter market (to buy some spaceheaters etc.) on Monday, November 7th.  The fundraiser will be held from 5-8 p.m. at the amazingly delicious,  62 Restaurant & Wine Bar, located at 62 Wharf Street in Salem.

Join us in support of the winter market at the restaurant of  Chef Tony Bettencourt while savoring delicious hors d’oeuvres and enjoying the music. Get the inside scoop on the vendor lineup for the Winter Farmers’ Market. Cash Bar.

The new market will be held in the Artists’ Row Buildings and will run from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, November 10, 17, Tuesday, November 22 (there will be no market on Thanksgiving), December 1, 8, 15 and 22. It will feature some of the summer vendors as well as many new ones offering fresh and organic foods that use locally grown ingredients, baked goods, crafts, festive holiday items and much more.

Money raised will go towards the purchase of space heaters and other costs that come with moving the market to a more comfortable indoor setting for the winter.

Tickets for the fundraiser will be $25 at the door. They can also be purchased for $20 in advance at the Salem Chamber of Commerce offices, 265 Essex Street, or by contacting Salem Main Streets at SFM@salemmainstreets.org or (978) 744-0004.

This week is MA Farmers’ Market week. Stop by the Salem Farmers’ Market Thursday in Derby Square from 3 – 7 to show your support for local farms. The regularly scheduled cooking demonstration and music have been cancelled this week. We apologize for any inconvenience. This past Thursday the market celebrated a Tomato Festival which was judged by Chive Catering and Farmer Bill Clark (Clark Farm’s tomatoes were not entered into the contest since Mr. Clark served as a judge.)

Stop by the Salem Famers’ Market Thursday from 3- 7 p.m. and enjoy the market’s first ever Tomato Festival. There will be children’s activities including face painting from 3 – 7 p.m.  At 3:30 Chive will do a cooking demonstration featuring tomatoes. Enjoy the music by System Sound a collaboration between ScottVoid and Qwill from 5 –  7 p.m. At 4:15 there will be tomato judging. Stop by the market pick up some tomatoes and try a new recipe.  We encourage everyone to share their favorite tomato recipe with us on Facebook.
